Xue Zhao handed some photos to Mo Yuan and described, “Ye-xiaojie met Miao Shuya the next morning she stayed in Mo Yu’s house. Miao Shuya fled with anger. Mo Yu didn’t chase after her. I think Ye-xiaojie stopped him.”

“Miao Shuya and Mo Yu also have a lot of contradictions at work because of this matter. They are tit-for-tat and do not give in to each other, hence there is no progress for the North project. Now everyone in the company knows that Miao Shuya and Mo Yu quarreled. Many versions have been circulated privately about the cause. The internal discord between the two people in charge also affected the work of their subordinates.”

“These photos show the latest situation. Mo Yu chased after Miao Shuya all the way from the company to their community after he clocked off. When they were talking, Ye-xiaojie happened to pass by and Ye-xiaojie was furious. She stepped forward and questioned them, leaving Miao Shuya and Mo Yu without words. In the end, Ye-xiaojie went upstairs alone…”

Mo Yuan’s calm expression fluctuated a little, “What did she say to them?”

He couldn’t think of anything that could have made Ye Wei leave Miao Shuya and Mo Yu speechless. After all, the prior entanglement made it impossible for her to overturn her situation to her advantage. The only thing she could do now was to be a roadblock for Mo Yu and Miao Shuya.

Xue Zhao cleared his throat, “It appears that Miao Shuya and Mo Yu lectured Ye-xiaojie, saying that she was responsible for her own mistake of not trusting Mo Yu enough. Now, a similar situation has played out. Yet, Miao Shuya, who keeps prating about ‘trust’, doesn’t trust Mo Yu at all. She misunderstood that Mo Yu rekindled his old relationship with Ye-xiaojie. Ye-xiaojie lost her temper because of it. Because, how could the outcome be like that?”

“Ye-xiaojie said, she originally reflected that maybe she was indeed the one at fault. She wanted to believe the ‘trust’ in Miao Shuya and Mo Yu’s mouths. She didn’t expect her two life mentors to go back on their own words. Turns out, they couldn’t do what they said either! Is there any so-called trust in this world? She was so disappointed that she lost hope for this world.”

“These were Ye-xiaojie words.”

Mo Yuan,“……???”

Did he hear it wrong?

Mo Yuan began to doubt his ears.

Xue Zhao shed a bitter tear for Ye Wei. “Ye-xiaojie is pretty miserable. She took a hard pill and acknowledged that she was the one at fault, but she instantly got slapped in the face as soon as she turned her head… Ai…” It’s hard to be a good person.

He saw Mo Yuan’s cold glare and shut his mouth before he could finish his words.

Mo Yuan snorted coldly. Xue Zhao hung his head low, aware of how to behave in this delicate atmosphere.

On the other side, Miao Shuya didn’t anticipate being questioned by Ye Wei about her anger at Mo Yu. If she knew she would encounter Ye Wei here, she wouldn’t say anything……

But,, she was truly sad ah. She couldn’t pretend when she faced Mo Yu. She prided herself to be calm. Nothing could make her gaffe, but, when it came to Mo Yu, she couldn’t keep her composure.

Now Ye Wei questioned her face-to-face. Her face was red from shame, even her ears were red. She coudln’t evoke any words in this embarrassing situation, and neither could Mo Yu.

At this time, where could they use the word ‘trust’ as rhetoric to say that Ye Wei was wrong before?

Ye Wei was utterly dejected, losing her hope. She shook her head and cast a last glance at Miao Shuya and Mo Yu before making her way upstairs, leaving them behind.

Miao Shuya averted her gaze from Ye Wei, she didn’t have the courage to look at her eyes. What qualification did she have to lecture Ye Wei about things she should do when she couldn’t even do it herself when she was faced with a similar situation? In the matter of love, who wasn’t anxious, worrying about it lest they lose it? Who wouldn’t be jealous? Some things couldn’t be solved by ‘trust’ alone.

Even if Mo Yu told her that he didn’t reconcile with Ye Wei and nothing really happened between him and Ye Wei, how could she remain calm? Ye Wei stayed at Mo Yu’s house! It was enough to make her lose her mind!

Miao Shuya shut her eyes, unable to bear it.

Mo Yu was suffocated by the despair and disappointment in Ye Wei’s eyes. Before, he did think that he was not the only person responsible for their breakup, Ye Wei had her own share of responsibility for that. As long as she trusted him a little bit, she wouldn’t misunderstand him as a man who ate from his bowl but was still looking at the food in the pot[1]. But now, it seemed that the ‘trust’ that he said was a farce, an excuse for his mistake.

His cheek was burning with pain, so much so that he felt that he had no face to see Ye Wei anymore and his feelings for Miao Shuya became peculiar.

He thought Miao Shuya was rational, calm, and refined, but he was not exactly right. She would also be angry and misunderstood things. She spoke righteously about trust to others, but she herself couldn’t do it…….

Mo Yu let out a sigh and explained, “Shuya, something happened to Ye Wei. She has no place to stay for the time being so she stayed with me for these two days. You really misunderstood us about what happened yesterday morning.”

Miao Shuya’s eyes at Mo Yu were also somewhat complicated. He was smart and handsome. He attached great importance to feeling and righteousness, but, because he attached importance to those, he appeared indecisive in terms of emotion. “Is Ye Wei so poor she couldn’t live alone? Or is the money on you not enough to book a hotel room for her? Why must she stay in your house?”

Mo Yu understood what she meant, but, “Ye Wei became like this because of me and I am responsible for it. I can’t ignore her……”

Miao Shuya weakly tugged the corners of her mouth, “You are responsible? Didn’t she become like this because of her choice?”

Mo Yu shook his head, “But the root cause is me. If it weren’t for me, she wouldn’t have suffered those blame!”

Miao Shuya smiled with self-mockery. She was in the dark about Ye Wei being used by Mo Yuan. So, she felt that the “blame” Mo Yu referring to was about Ye Wei “suffering” because she answered his call and made Ye Wei angry to the point she broke up with Mo Yu, leading to her fleeing to Mo Yuan’s arms. “It’s not your fault, it’s mine. I was too nosy. If I didn’t answer your call, Ye Wei wouldn’t break up with you. In a way, the root cause is me. It’s my fault that I hurt Ye Wei, just blame it on me.”

“Don’t say that, there are some things you don’t understand…” Mo Yu was quite helpless, but couldn’t explain the reason.

Miao Shuya felt she was choked out of breath. She raised her head and inhaled, “Sorry, it’s my bad.”

Mo Yu tousled his hair. “I really thought you would trust me. At least ask me what’s going on, not like this…”

Miao Shuya’s face blanched. She recalled Ye Wei’s words. She lowered her head to the side, “Sorry to disappoint you”

Mo Yu, “…” He really didn’t know what to say at the moment.

Mo Yu, “Let’s cool off our minds first.”

Miao Shuya laughed deprecatingly at herself and herself, “As you say.”

Mo Yu stared at Miao Shuya’s back and irritably pushed his hair back with his hand. He didn’t understand, how could things develop into what they are now?

————·————·————

Xue Zhao, “Miao Shuya and Mo Yu had a big quarrel and they parted on bad terms.”

Mo Yuan closed his eyes and leaned back on the sofa, “Ye Wei?”

“Ye-xiaojie didn’t come out after she went upstairs,” Xue Zhao said

Mo Yuan asked, “She didn’t leave?”

Xue Zhao, “She didn’t.”

Mo Yuan frowned, “Isn’t she disappointed by Mo Yu? Why does she still stay there?”

How could Xue Zhao know the reason?

“Maybe… Her love is so deep that even if she is disappointed, she will stay with Mo Yu…”

Thus went his wild guess. After all, Ye Wei, who was now so rich, did not search for a new little fresh meat[2] but went to find her ex. The moment the words escaped his mouth, Mo Yuan’s cold glare once again fell on him. Xue Zhao zipped his mouth wisely and stopped guessing at will.

Mo Yuan scoffed.

Xue Zhao touched his nose, unable to understand Mo Yuan’s mind.

Just rightly, he received a call from the person he sent to monitor Ye Wei, “This is bad! Ye Wei has been kidnapped!”

Xue Zhao was shocked, “Ye Wei is kidnapped?!”

Why was Ye Wei kidnapped? A mediocre… Wrong, now Ye Wei was a rich woman with tens of millions of assets. It was not that strange for her to be kidnapped?

Mo Yuan stood up from the sofa all of sudden and snatched the mobile phone in Xue Zhao’s hand. His voice was oppressively cold, “What’s the situation? Speak clearly.”

At the same time, he scrolled through his mobile phone and located Ye Wei’s position from the tracking device he installed on Ye Wei’s phone. It showed that she was no longer in the community’s area, she was moving out of the city. It stopped at a certain location. Her phone should have been discovered by the kidnapper.

He placed a tracking device on Ye Wei’s phone long ago, just for the sake of convenience to monitor her every move. He didn’t like the feeling of losing control. He could only feel at ease knowing where Ye Wei was and what she did. He never anticipated that it would come in handy in this situation.

Backward a few minutes ago, when Mo Yu went upstairs, he found the house had turned into a mess. The cup and the chair scattered on the ground. He thought it was because Ye Wei was mad, but he scoured the whole house and couldn’t find Ye Wei’s trace. He called her phone but it didn’t get through. He then noticed some blood on the ground, along with Ye Wei’s shoe.

That shoe was the pair of the shoes Ye Wei wore just now. Obviously, she just wore it… But, her shoe was dropped here and there was blood near it……

Only then did Mo Yu realize the severity of the matter. His heart thumped, something happened to Ye Wei!

He immediately called the police and went to check the community’s surveillance.

Seeing that Mo Yu was in such a hurry, the person who was sent to monitor Ye Wei discovered that something was wrong, he went to hack through the community surveillance and found that three suspicious people entered Mo Yu’s house not long after Ye Wei returned. She was carried all the way to the basement and pushed into a van with a fake license plate.

The other party copied the video and sent it to Mo Yuan.

Mo Yuan just glanced at it and already knew who the perpetrator was. His face became more distorted. His bony fingers touched his knees. There, he seemed to feel the pain of being penetrated by a bullet.

He ordered, “Contact the police. Inform them where Ye Wei last appeared and tell them to block the car’s road.”

Xue Zhao understood that the situation was urgent and did it as instructed, but he was still at a loss. Ye Wei was kidnapped at Mo Yu’s house, so the other party’s original target must be Mo Yu. Who was so bold to dare to kidnap a person in broad daylight?

Xue Zhao hesitated, “The other party hasn’t contacted us yet, but they went to kidnap Mo Yu, it’s probably because they know his identity and wanted to demand ransom. I’ll prepare the money一”

Mo Yuan’s hands were crossed on his knees. His dark eyes stared at Xue Zhao, with a bloody aura that made Xue Zhao shiver, “No. They are there for revenge.”

Xue Zhao was taken aback, “Do you know them?”

Mo Yuan stood up and said, “They are the ones who broke my leg.”

Xue Zhao was petrified. It was Mo Yuan’s first time to initiate talking about his leg! He glanced at it reflexively, and then remembered that looking at his legs was equal to ‘humiliating him’ for Mo Yuan. He quickly retracted his gaze.

Mo Yuan smiled coldly, “Prepare the car, Order the person monitoring Ye Wei to bring Mo Yu to me.”

Xue Zhao was confused, “??”

“Why are we bringing Mo Yu on this?”

A faint sneer hung on Mo Yuan’s lips, “Of course, to use as a replacement. The person the other party wants to catch is Mo Yu. It’s only natural to replace the fake with the real. There is no reason to let others suffer for him, don’t you think so?”

He gripped the cane and walked out of the office quickly while limping. Xue Zhao hurriedly followed. He shivered from the coldness that Mo Yuan exuded.

————·————·————

Mo-jia was the richest family in City C. Neither the black nor white dared to provoke them. But actually, there were many who had bad blood with Mo-jia. The Mo-jia’s ancestors mixed with the black side during their times. The last two generations had washed white, but privately they hadn’t completely gotten rid of their former entanglements. Mo-jia had offended many sides during the cleaning of their black business. Among them, several confidants who had worked hard with the previous Head of Mo-jia had a great conflict because of their different choices and split into two factions. In the end, in the battle for power, Mo-jia won. Those who lost either died in prison or fled overseas. Since then, the two parties have become old enemies.

Mo Yuan’s leg got broken because someone returned.

For money, for profit, for revenge, for the decline of the Mo-jia, and for the death of each person in Mo-jia.

The reason why Mo Yuan recognized them at a glance was that the kidnappers share the same characteristic as them, a wolf totem tattooed on their bodies!

Mo Yuan still remember that when he was in high school, he was rebellious, desiring to attract Mo Shizong’s attention. One afternoon, he skipped class and went out to play, but he was kidnapped halfway. He was afraid at that time, but he stayed calm. The reason for his kidnapping could only be for money. He didn’t worry because Mo-jia had plenty of money. His life wouldn’t be in danger because he was Mo Shizong’s son. Or so he thought.

When the other party called to blackmail Mo Shizong, it was accompanied by abuse and severe beatings on him. They also recorded the video and sent it to Mo Shizong, threatening him to redeem Mo Yuan by himself and not to call the police, otherwise, they would kill Mo Yuan.

Mo Shizong compromised, but in the end, it was not Mo Shizong himself who went to redeem him, but a policeman who was close in stature and age to Mo Shizong. With makeup and clothes, unfamiliar people would really mistake the policeman for Mo Shizong. However, Mo Yuan was Mo Shizong’s son. He could see it through at a glance. He endured the panic and kept his silence. Unfortunately, those kidnappers were familiar with Mo Shizong and also recognized it was not him.

The move angered the other party. They pointed their gun at his leg and shot him. It was that move that crippled his leg.

The second shot was aimed at the policeman pretending to be Mo Shizong.

Mo Yuan fainted from the pain and the last thing he saw in his eyes was blood. The next time he woke up, he was already in the hospital. He heard that the fight was extremely fierce. All the people who kidnapped him died. The police also suffered heavy losses. The policeman who came to redeem him in place of Mo Shizong died.

The real Mo Shizong sat in front of him, “You should have been in school at that time. Do you know how many people died because of your stubbornness?”

Mo Yuan was originally weighed down by fear and guilt, but Mo Shizong’s words aroused his rebellious heart again, “So how about I call that man Dad instead of you?”

Mo Shizong, “Ungrateful bastard! You still don’t know how to repent, do you?!”

His mother, who was still alive at that time, sat aside, crying until her eyes were red and swollen. She pacified in a hoarse voice, “Shizong, A’Yuan narrowly escaped from death. If you have anything to say to him, say it later. Let him recuperate in peace.”

Mo Shizong retorted, “He must be taught, else sooner or later he will create another big trouble.”

“I have done my utmost to fulfill my duty as a mother to my child. But, you, as a father, have never done your father’s duty to teach him. Now that something has happened, what right do you have to teach him? Besides, those people didn’t target A’Yuan for no reason. This is all caused by your Mo-jia’s business. Even if A’Yuan didn’t skip class that day, he would still be kidnapped on another day. Are you eased now that you have thrown the responsibility on your son?”

The woman was elegant and serene. She coughed a few times, and her expression and eyes were indifferent. “That’s all. Go out.”

Mo Shizong had nothing to retort back. He was reluctant for this marriage of his. Therefore, he always busied himself with work so he have less time to go home. With that flow, he neglected to take care of Mo Yuan. They were father and son but they got along like enemies.

Since then, Mo Yuan never skipped class again. Wherever he went, many bodyguards protected him in the dark. Anyway, no one could predict when those people would make another attack.

Mo Shizong was alert, and so was Mo Yuan. They were always on guard.

Unexpectedly, the other party appeared this time, and the first person they targeted was Mo Yu, but they took Ye We away by mistake.

————·————·————

At this moment, the kidnapped Ye Wei slowly woke up. She was knocked on the back of her head and her head was throbbing from the pain. She accidentally got slashed by the kidnappers’ knife in her arm. Her wound was still bleeding, but a small scab has formed on her wound. She covered the wound and observed the man sitting in front of her with a gun in his hand.

The man in front of her was visibly strong and his eyes were full of ferocity. He didn’t soften up just because she was a woman.

“Awake?”

“Are you kidnappers?” Ye Wei trembled with fright, “I have money. Let me go. I can give you all my money.”

The man seemed to deem her interesting and said with a smile, “How much money do you have?”

Ye Wei calculated carefully and stated with a trembling voice, “During this period of time, I have cheated about hundreds of people with my beauty…”

The man, “……??”

“Don’t you believe me? What I say is the truth. You see, I’m so good-looking, it would be a failure of my beauty if you could only cheat several million from those people!” Ye Wei spoke anxiously, “You guys broke into the house and kidnapped me right? Did you guys just escape from prison? Now I got to see your faces, do you want to kill me? Please, can you let me go…”

The man stared at the timid woman in front of him. Of course, he believed it. He had investigated Mo Yuan and Mo Yu. He naturally knew that the woman was wandering between the two brothers, “Can’t.”

Tears started falling from her eyes, but she didn’t dare to make a sound. While crying, she stared vigilantly at him and choked out, “I know I have no way out except death, but my last wish has not been completed. Can you let me go…”

Oho? Speak up.”

“I haven’t let Mo Yu and Mo Yuan suffer for me. I haven’t made them live a fate worse than death! I’m not reconciled to die like this!”

The man, “……”

Ah, so you are a scumbag?[3]

  1. 吃着碗里的看着锅里的男人 – chī zhe wǎn lǐ de kàn zhe guō lǐ de nán rén. His mind is not only on one person. A cheater. Stepping on two boats. Already have their own shares but are still greedy for more.

  2. 小鲜肉 – xiǎo xiān ròu. refers to young handsome men.

  3. 感情騙子 – gǎnqíng piànzi. Emotional Manipulator. Someone who could use people’s feelings for their own interest but 感情騙子 also refers to scumbags who could easily change their mind or abandon you when you already have feelings for them. In this case, it leans more to the latter.

Ry’s Corner

I think emotional manipulator is a fit to describe Ye Wei, haha. After all, emotional manipulators are incredibly skilled liars. They insist an incident didn’t happen when it did, and they insist they did or said something when they didn’t. They are masters at altering reality with lies, fibs, or misstatements in order to confuse or entice people. They may exaggerate events to make themselves seem more vulnerable. They may also understate their role in a conflict in order to gain your sympathy. The trouble is they’re so good at it that you end up questioning your own sanity.

Anyway, there is no comedy until the curtain call for Ye Wei the gold worshipper :>

What can I say, Mo Shizong is, ah, unqualified to be a father. If I could review him, I would give him 1 star. “Received this shit as my father. A walking piece of trash. Plenty of disadvantages and no advantages. Not worth all the trauma I suffered. I demand a refund. Would not recommend it. Better burn him in a nearby incinerator.”

Learn from Yin Nanzhao from “The Memory Lost in Space”. “He never scolds people.” Chen Sha’s words were very honest. Except, the latter half of his sentence was omitted, “He is the kind that beat people directly to the hospital.”!

Talking is overrated, anyway.

  1. I wouldn’t call her a manipulator in that sense. At most she shamelessly inverts black and white but she never gaslights anyone. An emotional manipulator will slap you then trick you into genuinely belueving you deserve it whilst Ye Wei tends to be too good at exposing the hypocrasy in others hearts. She’ll slap you and tell you you deserved it.
