Qin Wanwan thought of Jian Xingzhi’s true identity and all she could remember was the pain and humiliation when she was trampled under his foot. Now, he was bound to a Soft Rice Man System and his cultivation was absolutely useless. She simply desired to laugh out loud at his face.

What goes around comes around; People will taste their own Karma. Heaven will not turn a blind eye!

Let this Jian Xingzhi ran amock, let this Jian XIngzi go about with his nose in the air. Look, his retribution has arrived!

Now open your mouth wide and eat your retribution!

She strained her best to regulate her emotion, but the impact of the news was so grand that she couldn’t control her trembling body.

Jian Xingzhi glanced at her fidgeting and coughed softly, “I am well aware that I am quite famous in the Immortal Realm, It’s normal for you to be thrilled. Take a deep breath and calm yourself, don’t get too excited and lose your sense of propriety.'”

Ecstatic, how could she not be ecstatic! [1]

If they were in the Immortal Realm and she wanted to take revenge on him, she might have to wait for her parents to return or she wouldn’t have any chance at all. But, now, they were in this Cultivation Realm— She, the Great Female Lead, and he, the Soft Rice Man. Even if it was not as easy as snapping her finger, the odds were in her favor!

Particularly because his brain was basically offline all the time.

Qin Wanwan bowed her head to try to wipe off her twitching smile, “This Disciple understands.”

“Speaking of which,” Jian Xingzhi saw she had calmed down and darted at her amiable face, “What’s your name?”

“I am…” Qin Wanwan paused for a moment. She raised her head and said profoundly, “Gu Beicheng.”

Sooner or later, I will make you say it with your own mouth. Gu Beicheng, you are so cruel! [2]

Jian Xingzhi’s brows furrowed, “It doesn’t sound like a female name.”

“My parents value boys over girls. When my mother was pregnant with me, they hoped that I was a boy.” Qin Wanwan lied with her eyes open.

And, Jian Xingzhi took it for granted. He pecked his head, “Then, where are your parents now?'”

“Immortal Realm. Their cultivation isn’t high, so they settled on selling tanghulu[3] at the market.”

Jian Xingzhi nodded along with her words. Qin Wanwan came from a family that sold tanghulu in the Immortal Roalm, it’s understandable why she was weak. Her previous statement to him about her being in a high status was a lie, then.

Anyway, she was just a little girl, desiring to show off for a bit was normal. He could understand.

Jian Xingzhi decided not to poke holes in her contradictory words and patted Qin Wanwan on the shoulder to motivate her, “Start cultivating well from today and ascend soon. In the future, you can follow me in the Immortal Realm. Your parents won’t have to sell tanghulu anymore.”

“Yes, I will listen to Shifu.”

Qin Wanwan smiled, and Jian Xingzhi offered a hand to her, “Here, get up.”

Qin Wanwan grasped his hand and stood up. Jian Xingzhi engrossed himself in the role of Shifu and began to instruct her, “Rest well today. We will start practicing tomorrow.”

“Okay.”

Qin Wanwan nodded and went to the side. Jian Xingzhi fetched another grilled fish and handed it to her, “Have a fish.”

Qin Wanwan accepted it wordlessly, eyes trained on the dancing flames. She numbly ate the fish grilled by Jian Xingzhi and developed a plan to take her revenge on Jian Xingzhi.

A wise person once said, only by knowing yourself and your enemy could you not fear the result of a hundred battles.[4] The current Jian Xingzhi may not be in his full glory, but when all was said and done, he was still the No. 1 in terms of Battle Power. Who knew how many tricks he had in his sleeves. She ought to test him first and see how much power Jian Xingzhi held now, after confirming it….

Qin Wanwan counted all the things Jian Xingzhi had done to her.

After confirming it… she must make him pay for everything he had done to her, one by one!

She would strike him, thrash him, destroy his self-esteem, and trample on his face. She would make him beg her from the deepest of his heart and say ‘I’m sorry’!

Yes!

Qin Wanwan was clear on her objective.

The thing she desired the most and the most important thing was, a heartfelt apology!

Having determined her objective, Qin Wanwan gazed toward Jian Xingzhi in a new light.

Jian Xingzhi was eating a fish when he felt a chilling wind gust past him. He turned his head at Qin Wanwan, “What are you staring at me for? Does the fish taste bad?”

“It’s not that, but,” Qin Wanwan thought hard, trying to dig more clues out of Jian Xingzhi’s mouth, “Shifu, this Lady of Ji Shan, what the hell had she done to make you regard her as your mortal enemy?”

“About this matter,” Jian Xingzhi replied with a solemn manner, “To say the least, it’s simple. In our Sect, we improved our Martial Arts through battle. I challenged everyone I could locate and one day, I heard about her, that she has a high level of cultivation and has been in seclusion for so long. So, I wrote her a letter of challenge.”

“And then?”

Qin Wanwan knew about that. The day the letter of challenge arrived at her door, her heart did a whole set of gymnastics on the spot. Turning him down was a no-brainer for her.

“Then, she turned down my challenge. But you think about it, if someone refused my challenge and I always acquiesced to their will, where could I have fought so many battles? My battle record would be non-existent. Therefore, I went directly to Ji Shan. She had set up plenty of arrays at her gate, but I broke it all.”

Once she heard that, Qin Wanwan’s heart ached.

The precious protection arrays all over her mountain were damaged by this maniac’s sword. Innumerable spirit stones poofed to thin air just like that.

“It doesn’t stop at that. She also sent a lot of people to encircle me! I had to hack my way up!”

“Shifu,” Qin Wanwan gnashed her teeth, “You are truly exceptional.”

That day, Jian Xingzhi single-handedly defeated all the masters that her parents left her for her safety from the way down the mountain and up to her Ji Shan Palace.

“Eventuall, I saw her,” Jian Xingzhi reflected his state of mind when he saw Qin Wanwan for the first time, “When I saw her, I directly used the move ‘Bright Moon in the Sky’, and she flew backward with force. I chased after her at once with one leapt and struck my sword hilt on her chest. She crashed to the ground on the spot, and I stepped on her face, trampling her under my feet.”

Qin Wanwan nearly cried just from his narrative. Jian Xingzhi emulated his pose at that time, “I stepped on her face and warned her not to belittle me, if she doesn’t show her true strength, I will…”

“Level her mountain and smash her palace. Trash her Ji Shan thoroughly, not even leaving a chicken or dog behind!”

“That’s right!” Jian Xingzhi was proud of her, “You have begun to understand me.”

She understood ah, beyond measure, even.

“Then, since she has lost,” Qin Wanwan voiced her confusion, “Why don’t you let her go?”

“She is ranked 21st in the Immortal Realm Battle Power Ranking,” Jian Xingzhi rebuked her, “How could she be so weak? She must be playing tricks on me, trying to lower my defense, or she just perfunctorily battled with me without displaying her true strength.”

“Then…” Qin Wanwan balled her hands into fist, “If you want to fight, just fight. Why did you have to step on her face?”

“That’s because…” Jian Xingzhi revealed a bit of embarrassment on his face, “She is outrageously beautiful.”

“Because she is outrageously beautiful you decided to step on her face?!” His reason made Qin Wanwan flare.

Jian Xingzhi sent her a weird look, “Why are you so heated?”

“I…” Qin Wanwan restrained her emotions, “I’m just curious.”

“It’s like this.” Jian Xingzhi illustrated patiently, “When fighting, it’s all about life and death. You can’t be half-hearted. She is outrageously beautiful. I can’t take my eyes off her face. In that case, I have to step on her face so as not to be distracted.”

Qin Wanwan: “……”

At that moment, Qin Wanwan’s jaw dropped. She looked at him with a sense of admiration.

He was a Sword Cultivator? No way. He must be a Monk right?

No, even a monk may not have a heart as pure as him and desires as little as him.

“Shifu,” A sprout of curiosity born in Qin Wanwan’s heart, “Will I have a Shiniang[5] in the future?”

“Let’s leave that to fate,” Jian Xingzhi contemplated, “For the time being, you won’t.”

“I see,” Qin Wanwan knew for a fact what the answer for her own question was, “So the time I have a Shiniang won’t ever come.”

After all, who would be blind enough to take a fancy at a person like him?

“This matter is not important,” Jian Xingzhi waved his hand and returned to their initial topic, his battle with Qin Wanwan, “I told you all this so you can gain some insight. People like Qin Wanwan are actually insidious. The reason she let me do all that was to lead me to a certain position. I guess she must have put some kind of spell on that location. I only stepped on her face for a second and a burst of thunder struck me from the sky一 Ai?”

Qin Wanwan stood up from her seat and Jian Xingzhi called her, “Where are you going?”

“I’m sleepy,” Qin Wanwan lay back on the pile of hay, “I want to sleep.”

She couldn’t stand listening to his rubbish talk anymore.

“Anyway, I was struck by the Heavenly Thunder and got sent into this Lower Realm…” Jian Xingzhi was a bit unwilling to leave his story unfinished, “It must be some kind of evil spell. You think, isn’t she insidious?”

Qin Wanwan ignored him, preferring to turn her back to him and look at the sand not far away.

There was only one thing on her mind.

Why was Jian Xingzhi this kind of person?

How could Jian Xingzhi be this kind of person!!!

All night with her back to Jian Xingzhi, Qin Wanwan’s mind was filled with such thoughs.

In the middle of the night, when she dozed off, she sensed that someone covered her with a quilt.

Jian Xingzhi, the person who tucked in Qin Wanwan, grinned when he saw +1 point in his mind.

The next morning, Qin Wanwan felt a cold wind blowing through. Her soul still wandered around as she opened her eyes in a daze. She was met with Jian Xingzhi squatting in front of her.

“Are you awake? Rise and shine, my Disciple! Let’s start your training!”

“Training…” Qin Wanwan’s brain was buffering, “Training?”

“Now, up!”

Jian Xingzhi raised her out of the quilt like a cat. Qin Wanwan was fished out by him and Jian Xingzhi took care of her like a child, dressing her, feeding her water, tying her hair and wiping her face…

As she watched him busy moving here and there, Qin Wanwan’s soul gradually entered her body. She came back to her senses and raised her hand to stop him, “I can do it myself.”

Jian Xingzhi glanced at the points on his mind and confirmed that he had received more than half of the points today. He withdrew his hands, ‘Okay. I will wait for you outside. Come out and find me after you are done.”

Jian Xingzhi picked up two wooden swords that he sharpened from god knows when and flung them to the sand next to him.

Qin Wanwan bathed quickly and went out to find Jian Xingzhi. Just as she got near him, Jian Xingzhi tossed her a wooden sword, “Catch it.”

Qin Wanwan caught the wooden sword and staggered almost immediately.

“The Sword has a Thousand Jin[6] talisman on it. I can’t find any metal around, so we will make do with wooden sword first.” Jian Xingzhi grasped the sword and swung it in a circle, “Starting today, we will practice sword for four hours every morning. Then, we will head to Guicheng. This desert is about 3000 miles away from Guicheng. We will run 100 miles everyday. In this way, we will reach there in a month.”

“100 miles… everyday?!”

Qin Wanwan blanched from fear. Jian Xingzhi knocked his sword on his shoulder and nodded, “Yes. 100 miles everyday. We run during the day and meditate during the night. With our Sect cultivation method, by the time we arrive at Guicheng, your weak body should have improved a little.”

“Shifu,” Qin Wanwan deliberated, “How about we take it step by step…”

“This is step-by-step ah.” Jian Xingzhi said justifiably, “Don’t worry. The good days are yet to come.”

Qin Wanwan couldn’t form a reply.

She stared at Jian Xingzhi deeply, thinking, if she beat him now, what was her odds of winning?

“Let’s start,” Jian Xingzhi pointed his sword at her, “Let’s practice sword first.”

Qin Wanwan looked at his sword and took a deep breath. “Shifu, Hear me out. Everything has to start from scratch. If the enemy I face is too powerful, I will lose confidence. I am ashamed to say this, but if you, the strongest person in the Immortal Realm, became my sparring partner, I wouldn’t dare to touch a sword again in my life.”

Jian Xingzhi weighed her words and gave a nod, “You make sense. I’m too strong for you. Then how should this be done?”

“Shifu,” Qin Wanwan tested the water, “Why don’t you go easy on me?”

“That’s plausible.” Jian Xingzhi agreed, “How easy do you want me to go?”

“Shifu can’t use his hands,” Once Jian Xingzhi spoke his answer, Qin Wanwan smiled with glee, “I believe that with your strength, even if your hands are tied, ten of me won’t be able to beat you.”

“I understand.” Jian Xingzhi put his hands behind him, “Come at me.”

Qin Wanwan hurriedly took out a rope from her Qiankun Pouch and rushed to tie Jian Xingzhi. Jian Xingzhi watched her tying him up with a rush and sighed helplessly, “I have agreed to go easy on you and won’t use my hands. Why are you still so uneasy?”

“I’m afraid that you may lost control of yourself for a second. After all, even if it is for a second, I am a weak chicken. What if you accidentally kill me from the blow?”

Jian Xingzhi knew her predicament and let her do as she pleased. Only after tying him up did Qin Wanwan relax. She looked at the bound Jian Xingzhi with a triumphant smile, “May Shifu forgive This Disciple for being discourteous.”

“Let’s start now.”

Qin Wanwan raised her wooden sword and struck it down at Jian Xingzhi with all her heart, but before the sword could smack Jian Xingzhi, Jian Xingzhi jumped up to the side and kicked her flying!

Qin Wanwan fell into the sand head on.

Jian Xingzhi ran up to her, “Are you alright?'”

Qin Wanwan tightened her fist, heart brimming with fury.

She jerked her head up and glared at Jian Xingzhi, “Shifu. I think, even without your legs, I can’t beat you in the slightest.'”

“Then, what do you want?”

“Your legs also need to be tied up.”

“That’s fine by me.”

Jian Xinngzhi answered lightly. Qin Wanwan fetched another rope from her Qiankun Pouch and tied Jian Xingzhi’s legs. Jian Xingzhi was tied firmly like a Zongzi[7] standing on the sand. His eyes were shining bright, “Come on!”

Qin Wanwan inhaled deeply. She gripped her sword once again, this time imposing spell on it and dashed towards Jian Xingzhi.

Jian Xingzhi dodged sideways when she reached him. He leaned back and banged his head on hers!

Qin Wanwan felt the world buzzing for a second. Her brain not responding.

Immediately after Jian Xingzhi’s forehead crashed towards her, he hopped and stood horizontal in the air, like a huge wooden stake and drilled toward Qin Wanwan in one go, pulverizing her into the sand.

Qin Wanwan’s face was buried in the sand. Her face to the loess and her back to the sky. She was motionless.

Jian Xingzhi landed steadily with delight in his face, “This is the first time for me to try the Iron Head Skill of those monk in Guangming Palace, it indeed has its own advantages.'”

“Shifu.”

Qin Wanwan ground her teeth. All her reasoning had gone down the drain. She struggled to rise up from the sand, her body contorting, similar to a Sadako climbing up the well.

“You are using skills. This is plain bullying ah.”

“Then I won’t use it?” Jian Xingzhi spoke hesitatingly, “Come at me?”

Qin Wanwan stood up. She grasped her sword and stared hole at Jian Xingzhi.

At that moment, she discerned that her whole body was brimming with power. For the first time, she had the urge to beat someone to death.

“Okay.” She said, “Shifu, don’t fight back. I am coming at you.”

“Come on!”

Jian Xingzhi was looking forward to Qin Wanwan’s special request to strive to catch up and overtake one another. “Considering you just started your training, Shifu will give you a handicap. Now, come!”

Hardly had Jian Xingzhi’s voice faded away, Qin Wanwan swung her sword up and split it down at Jian Xingzhi!

This time, she didn’t hold back at all. She superimposed the spells from Ji Shan on her sword. The moment her sword collided with the ground, countless lights exploded with a deafening “bang”.

Jian Xingzhi skilfully leaped on the sand. His hands and feet were bound. His entire person was like a dextreous Jiang Shi[8]. Qin Wanwan pursued him and chopped frenziedly, but he kept bouncing ahead in front of her.

He didn’t forget to coach Qin Wanwan as he jumped, “Pay attention to my steps. It is called the ‘Nine Palace High Wave’ Step.”

“Look at my posture…”

Qin Wanwan listened attentively and analyzed them while listening.

She would catch him, she must catch him. She would grab his head and bang it hard to the sand, punch him and hammer his dog’s head!

“Faster, faster!”

“Just imagine your enemy in front of you. Your sword must carry a killing intent, and you must learn to release a killing intent!”

Jian Xingzhi evaded Qin Wanwan’s sword on one side and lectured her on the other, “Yes. That’s correct. Imagine that you are Qin Wanwan and I trample you under my feet and threaten you…”

He hadn’t finished his words and Qin Wanwan’s Spiritual Power already soared and she flashed in front of Jian Xingzhi. She used her sword like a baseball bat and smashed it heavily at Jian Xingzhi!

Jian Xingzhi got a direct home run hit and flew off high, planted into the sand on his landing.

Qin Wanwan clenched her sword and was gasping for breath. She glared intently at the direction where Jian Xingzhi flew off. The wind rolled the sand around her. She was drenched with sweats and she felt a tinge of pain from her abraded palm when the sand swept by.

Jian Xingzhi never popped up.

She stared into the distance and her heart finally felt a bit at peace.

Jian Xingzhi. Do you feel any pain? Do you regret it? Have you tasted what it’s like to be beaten? Have you tasted what it’s like to be bullied as a weakling?

Jian Xingzhi, do you feel the rage?

Yes. This is exactly how I felt back then. I must let you know your mistake…

Before Qin Wanwan could finish her monologue, Jian Xingzhi emerged from the sand. Sans for his head, his whole body was buried in the sand, but it couldn’t diminish the sparks in his eyes.

He looked at her with sand all over his head, eyes full of admiration. He raised his hand from the soil and gave her a thumbs up. He praised, “You are worthy of being my, Jian XIngzhi’s, disciple! Well done!”

Upon hearing his voice, Qin Wanwan wobbled and fell on all four.

Madman…

She must have met a madman!

How could anyone be delighted after being beaten!

God, how on earth could she make this madman realize his mistake and apologize to her!

The author has something to say:

God: Probably only by love.

Footnotes

[1] Jian Xingzhi used 激动 – jī dòng (emotionally excited; be excited; be thrilled) while Qin Wanwan used 兴奋 – xīng fèn. (excited; euphoria; very very happy; stimulated greatly). It’s the same, but it’s not exactly the same? For 兴奋, it is commonly used for a situation in which someone is encouraged; it is often used in positive conditions. and 激动 for a situation in which someone who is too happy, or too excited.

[2] Gu Beicheng was the scumbag Domineering CEO ML from “北城以北海未眠”. When the FL was so heartbroken by the ML, she uttered, “Gu Beicheng, you are so cruel.” (Ch5) and it becomes a catchphrase. “You haven’t update any chapter for a month. Gu Beicheng, you are so cruel.”

Anyway, it is a short Mary Su Novel with a very bloody plot lol. I mean, just look at the summary, “She lost a kidney, and a child. In that fire, she watched the man she loved the most left with another woman in his arms. The moment she closed her eyes, she thought, Gu Beicheng, if I could turn back time, I don’t want to meet you again.”. (they still end up together btw)

[3] 糖葫芦 – táng hú lu. Candied fruit; sugarcoated haws on a stick

[4] “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

[5] 师娘 – Shīniáng. A way to address your teacher’s wife.

[6] 1000 jin = 1322.77 pound = 600 kg.

[7] 粽子 – Zòngzi.Ir’s commonly shaped into triangle tho.

[8]  僵尸 – Jiāngshī. Chinese Zombie/Vampire.

Lei’s Corner

In MSB’s novel, Sword Cultivator is often (jokingly) pictured as a single-minded sword maniac. They only have Sword in their mind, heart, and soul.

Recently, I discovered that ads has popped up in more than one place. The matter has been resolved, but it made me consider moving to WordPress.org because I can’t even control the ads with free wp.

Update: Anw, there is a Font Resizer on the footer now. Small A to reduce the px by 1 (min 8px), middle A to back to the default size, and big A to increase the px by 1 (max 24px). Oh, and you can turn off the Dark Mode now, hooray? Just a warning in advance, I will prolly put some ads later to maintain this to. Sad.

If the Follow button below does not work, you can manually follow the site from WP Reader. _:(´ཀ`」∠):
